Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is a health insurance scheme launched by the Government of India. It provides free medical coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary healthcare services to economically weaker sections.
Eligibility is based on Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data:
- Rural Areas: Families with no earning adult, those in SC/ST categories, landless laborers, etc.
- Urban Areas: Families of street vendors, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers, construction workers, etc.

No, OPD consultations are generally not covered, but hospitalization and pre- and post-hospitalization expenses are included.

No, PM-JAY provides cashless treatment, and you do not need to pay anything at empaneled hospitals.
